Five new worlds

Here are five more in the series Newmedia Petroglyphs.  You may notice some of the elements are built up from flat surfaces that are populated with two dimensional patterns, while in other pieces the design elements have come alive, interacting with each other in the third dimension. I hope to enjoy them,

Newmedia Petroglyphs

I have been working on the ”Newmedia Petroglyphs” series of images for the last year, now posted here to share with the Tumblr community.

My premise explores the relational ties from the current day artists, back to their primitive cave painting counterparts. Although the methods and motivations of each group are similar, the differences begin by replacing the hammer and chisel with a digital pen or brush, and a pixel surface capable of displaying lush media content.

Mouse clicks and key strokes form the elements within digital compositions, as they grow into light emitting messages ready for distribution. Today’s cave artists connect digitally, with communities and networks outside the cave walls and across the globe, sharing their stories previously seen by a much smaller audience, drawn on a single stone surface.

In this broader theme I explore many aspects of light, dark, texture, and shape, the digital cave painting environment gives me a new context for discovery/rediscovery.
